Top 7 Anime News Websites To Stay Up To Date

Ever noticed how few anime websites are dedicated to news?

Top 7 Anime News Websites To Stay Up To Date

Apart from the handful of websites I know I'll share, I realize there's less than I thought. Especially with "known" anime news sites.

And you're probably feeling the same way if you're aware of sites like ANN.

Here's 7 recommendable for UK and global anime fans...

The Top 7 Anime News Sites:

1. Manga.Tokyo

Manga.Tokyo Your Otaku Friend in Japan

Manga.Tokyo commits:
  • anime reviews.
  • Anime guides.
  • The latest anime news, shows, movies.
  • Dedicated reports.
And all in between. Directly from Japan since Manga. Tokyo's Osaka, Japan.

It's one of Japan's "few" anime news sites with English-speaking websites. For anyone who can't get past the language barrier, most are off-limits.

It's the "newest" news site on this list. Since 2015, they've been active.

2. UK Anime Network

UK Anime Network was around long before I knew it existed.

As far as anime websites worldwide are concerned, it's one of the oldest and most consistent. Particularly the UK.

If you live in the UK and want a dedicated anime news site, these guys can't go wrong.

Just don't expect dozens of daily anime content like the bigger sites like CR.

3. Anime News Network

Anime News Network (ANN), clearly.

They're one of 2018's oldest anime websites still going strong.

They regularly publish dozens of articles, updates, news, even reviews. With enough content to last a month in a week.

If you want "the whole package" for anime news, there's no better source online.

4. Crunchyroll

With Crunchyroll being the dominant player for anime streaming (besides FUNI), they publish anime news daily. Something Funimation doesn’t do at all on their website.

If you want to know about the latest anime, AND get a preview of the latest episodes, CR is the #1 legal site to use.
Or at least that’s the case in 2018 as it stands.

5. Otaku Kart

Otaku Kart publishes less "anime news" than ANN, CR, Manga. Tokyo or other websites.

Not even near.

But they are dedicated to posting anime news and entertainment information and suggestions.

Their biggest anime news focuses on:
  • One Piece.
  • Naruto.
  • Dragon Ball Z.
  • My Hero Academia.

And shows this nature.

With previews, forums, "what if" posts, and

6. UK Anime News

UK Anime News is another long-established website. Longer than most anime websites.

Like UK Anime Network, they publish tons of UK-related anime news.

But they compare anime news almost every day. As a British anime fan, you can expect a high volume of content.

7. Random Curiosity

Random Curiosity is a different breed.

Instead of "just" anime news, RC's news is in review format.

And like ANN sites, they consistently publish content every day. With tons of content going out weekly without fail.

If you want anime reviews for the latest shows, Random Curiosity is a smart choice.

Honorable Anime News Mentions:
  • Kotaku.
  • MyAnimeList.
I could have listed other websites, but they're not fully committed to anime news. It's not worth mentioning as less important.

But if you're a fan of other anime news sites, post it in the section.

And social media.

Shirobako Movie: Unbox anime's nitty-gritty

From "8½" to "Day for Night" to "Dolemite Is My Signature," movie history is full of filmmaking. The latest addition to this self-referential genre is Tsutomu Mizushima's "Shirobako the Film," an anime about the blood, sweat and beers that brought an animated film on screen. It is the sequel to the television series "Shirobako," which aired from 2014 to 2015 and focused around Aoi Miyamori (voiced by Juri Kimura), a newly minted production assistant at the fictional Musashino Animation who, along with the viewer, discovers the ins and outs of how anime is produced from scratch to screen — and all the speed bumps that pop up along the way. Since canceling an in-progress sequence, the film opens four years later, with the great Musashino Animation a shadow of its former self. With the studio floundering, one of its executives comes to Miyamori with a bold plan: make an original theatrical film to be completed in less than a yea...

An anime-inspired campaign by anime director Mads Broni and Passion Animation Studios

MullenLowe partnered with Danish director Mads Broni and Passion Animation Studios to create an anime-inspired advertisement for one of UK's favorite restaurant chains, Wagamama. Called Bowl to Soul, it's based on the brand's affiliation with Japanese food and its founding philosophy that food not only feeds our heart, it "feeds our soul." The ad shows this by demonstrating Wagamama food's restore sensation. Upon taking her first taste, the ad's heroine tumbles into a magical land filled with streaming ramen rivers, ondulating coriander fields and spice fireworks. That doesn't sound bad. And it's a good way to appeal to those of us who haven't appreciated the magic of "your food will come out when it's ready." Created by a mixture of hand-drawn and computer-illustrated artwork, the film brings together a wide range of modern, diverse images and characters, each frame being a unique illustration influenced by anime art.
