Tamako Market's New Anime Is a Film Opening in April

The announced new Tamako Market project is Tamako Love Story , a brand-new film that distributor Shochiku is opening on April 26. The title change reflects a change from the earlier television version, in which the romance elements had been minimal. The main staff will remain the same at Kyoto Animation , including director Naoko Yamada , head scriptwriter Reiko Yoshida , and character designer Yukiko Horiguchi . The five main cast members are all returning from the television version: Aya Suzaki , Atsushi Tamaru, Yuki Kaneko , Juri Nagatsuma , and Yurie Yamashita . The official website for the film will open on Thursday.

Oneechan ga Kita Sisterly Love Anime's 1st Promo Video Streamed

Takeshobo's official website for the television anime adaptation of Rikō Anzai's four-panel manga Oneechan ga Kita (My Big Sister Arrived) began streaming the show's first promotional video on Monday. The video introduces the main cast and staff, and adds at the end, "Little brother love won't be stopped!!!" The story revolves around Tomoya Mizuhara (played by Aimi Terakawa), a 13-year-old boy who suddenly gains a big sister when his father remarries. 17-year-old Ichika (Juri Nagatsuma) is a little strange, and her affection for Tomoya is rather overwhelming, if not scary. On top of things, Ichika's friend Ruri (Omi Minami) is the ultimate sadist. Then there is Ichika's big-breasted quarter-Japanese friend Marina (Marina Inoue). The show also stars Ibuki Kido as Mina Fujisaki, Yu Kobayashi as Mitsuru Hanazono, Misuzu Togashi as Takayoshi Hayasaka, Fumi Morisawa as Yūko Mizuhara, Kenji Hamada as Masaya Mizuhara, and Kouji Takahashi as Sōichi

Live-Action Silver Spoon's Trailers Preview Yuzu's Opening

The official website for the live-action film adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's Silver Spoon farming manga began streaming the first full trailer and the second teaser trailer on Saturday. The trailers feature the Japanese musical duo Yuzu's theme song "Hidamari." The full trailer opens in English with the narrator labeling the main character Yūgo Hachiken as the world's "true savior." When Hachiken meets a pig he will raise, he thanks the pig in advance for its service that he assumes will last for his three years at an agricultural high school in Hokkaido. The teacher responds, "What are you saying? We're shipping it in the fall." Many of Hachiken's classmates are from farming families, but Hachiken is from the city and is not used to farm life. The video ends with Hachiken apologizing for splashing someone in the face with an sprayer. Sexy Zone band member Kento Nakajima plays the main character Yūgo Hachiken who mutte

“Symphogear” Third Season Announced

A third season of Symphogear has been announced , this one bound to be even worse than the previous two if the formula continues as the series seems only to get progressively worse with each installment. This anime didn’t need a second season, let alone a third – Symphogear is aiming to be a series with more seasons than its plot is worth, as if it hasn’t already become one. Whether the third season can escalate beyond the realm of sub-par that the previous two seemed stuck within is doubtful, but maybe, third time’s the charm.

“Nanana” Another A-1 Pictures Anime

A-1 Pictures is off to a terrible 2014, as if they don’t already have enough horrible confirmed, they’ve announced “ Nanana’s Buried Treasure “, which will be debuting as soon as April 2014 on noitaminA. Looking to Galilei Donna , A-1 Pictures’ previous noitaminA work, it’s “pretty bad” to say the least – yet on that note, it’s tough to recall any single respectable A-1 Pictures production from the last two years anyway. Interestingly, Nanana’s Buried Treasure is something A-1 Pictures has been meddling with since 2011 however, so despite the lackluster key visuals below, it does have potential assuming they’ve actually been working on it since then – but of course, hope is null.

New trailer shows off Sengoku Basara 4 gameplay

Feast your eyes on the latest gameplay trailer for my favorite Samurai Warriors clone -- Sengoku Basara 4. Okay, I admit calling it a Samurai Warriors clone might be a bit much, but it's difficult to overlook all the similarities. There's plenty of third-person, button-mashing combat against hordes of enemies with seemingly little in the way of AI -- not that it's a bad thing, mind you. Fortunately, Sengoku Basara goes above and beyond to offer more in the way of objectives, and abilities. Oh, and let's not forget that they've turned Masamune Date into a complete bad ass. Any way, the latest trailer shows off some of the new challenges and abilities you might have to face in the latest installment of the game, assuming it ever makes its way overseas. Something tells me it will, but you never know -- especially given Capcom's spotty record localizing the previous entries in the series. Let's hope it's on their radar.

Attack on Titan film gets director, release date

A long two years ago, a live-action Attack on Titan film was announced. We didn't know much more than it's happening and Tetsuya Nakashima was directing. Studio Toho finally gave the world an update, saying the film will be released in 2015 and instead of Nakashima directing the flick, Shinji Higuchi will be helming the film. Higuchi is best known to us as one of the founders of Gainax, but also has directed the 2012 film The Floating Castle and headed up special effects for several Gamera films. The Internet is already abuzz with discussion over the film. Arama translated a number of discussion points from 2ch and other places. Some of the topics included how to handle the seemingly multi-national cast, how the writing will shape up versus some other recent anime and manga film adaptations, and who would be the ultimate Mikasa. We'll fill you in as more details arrive, but now that we've got something to look forward to, who do you hope to see in the

“Kantai Collection” Anime Finally Confirmed

Kantai Collection has made it to the anime stage , upcoming from Diomedea and likely to debut next year, the animation already has everything against it to suggest a catastrophe lies ahead. Diomedea has better works to their name, like Ika Musume, but they’re not inherently a great studio despite having the capacity for greater creations. It ultimately depends on the source material, and in this case, we have Kantai Collection, a massive marketing scheme turned overnight sensation as every otaku wants to try touching themselves to battleships anthropomorphised as girls. The assorted manga series are dull 4koma comedy disappointments with unappetizing efforts at eyecandy, and just take a look at this promotional sketch. It feels inappropriate to even call this a “key visual”. It wouldn’t betray any expectations if this was indeed the level of quality found with this upcoming anime, but it’s still baffling nonetheless. They could have readily choosen a more popular battleship bi

“K-Project” Movie Premieres July 2014

The K Project has listed its movie premiere to hit July 12th 2014, bringing a new character with the announcement, a bishounen of course, violet-haired, carrying a sword, and fitting right in with the homo club. Although its been about a year since the anime ended, the K-Project’s formula hasn’t changed one bit, seemingly because it works so well to entice the target audience. Nothing gets fujoshis more hyped than an ambiguous key visual with generic English phrases written in nearly illegible Engrish type accompanying a feminine male character with an outdated weapon.

“Mahouka” Begins Airing April 2014

The next self-gratifying, overly hyped, teenage angst magical combat anime, “Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei“, has been confirmed to start airing April 2014 – still another season from now until we’ll see it. Being made by Madhouse, and the extended time between announcement and airing, one would like to assume the animation quality turns out quite impressive. As it happens, this release date revelation also sports a few “new” character visuals, none of which are particularly noteworthy, except in how unexceptional they appear, drained of color or interesting qualities.

Kagerō Project's Mekaku City Actors Anime Slated for April

Mitsutoshi Kubota, the president of the anime studio SHAFT, told the audience at the American premiere of Puella Magi Madoka Magica The Movie -Rebellion- that the studio's production of Mekaku City Actors is slated to start in April. He added that the studio is still working on the Kizumonogatari anime and asked fans to "please wait a little bit" for it. Tower Records reported in August that Akiyuki Shinbo (Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Bakemonogatari) will direct the anime of Vocaloid musical composer and writer Jin's (Shizen no Teki-P) Kagerō Project (Heat Mirage Project) under the title Mekaku City Actors. Tower Records reported at the time that the on-air date for the anime is still undecided. SHAFT is producing Kizumonogatari just as it did for the adaptations of NisiOisin's other Monogatari light novels. Monogatari Series Second Season is currently airing in Japan, and Daisuki is streaming the series as it airs. The television anime will cover most of

The first printing limited edition will include a DVD featuring the music video for the song. ClariS previously performed theme songs for the Puella Magi Madoka Magica television series and all three films, both seasons of Oreimo , Nisemonogatari , and Moyashimon Returns . The anime revolves around Raku Ichijō ( Kouki Uchiyama ), a normal high school student who happens to be the heir to a yakuza group. The attractive but violent transfer student Chitoge Kirisaki ( Nao Tōyama ), the heir to a rival yakuza group, transfers to his class,

Winter 2014 Season Preview

Last Winter was notable for being overshadowed by two superior Fall carryovers, Zetsuen no Tempest and From the New World . Both scored higher than the best Winter show, Kotoura-san —a great little show in its own right, and the only winter show to score higher than 8 (and just barely: 8.083). Winter 2013 was hardly a dud, featuring the first half of Chihayafuru 2 , the epic fantasy series Maoyu , and the imminently endearing Tamako Market . But there were four shows— OreShura , Amnesia , Unlimited , and Vividred —we’re not sure we’d need to watch again if given the chance. As we promise every season, we’re looking to be more selective this Winter, so the best anime receive the attention they deserve. For those new to our way of doing things, we prefer to know as little as possible about what we’re going to watch heading into the shows, meaning we never read the manga or source material beforehand, depending instead on the promo art, brief synopsis, studio, and people involv

The Top Anime Openings and Endings of the fall 2013 Season

A new season of anime means a new batch of anime openings and endings. For some shows, the openings and endings can be one of the only saving graces, for others it can add to an already stellar package. This season has been unlike the last two seasons in that there isn’t an opening that is far and away better than the other openings. That, however, does not mean that the quality was down. Quite the opposite, actually. There were so many good openings this season that it was hard for me to decide which one I preferred the best at first, and ultimately any one of the ten I selected could be someone’s favorite from the season. With all that being said, these are my selections for the best openings and endings of the season. Top 10 Openings: 10. Golden Time Golden Time’s opening doesn’t have much going for it in terms of visuals. It literally just follows around the two lead characters of the show Tada Banri and Kaga Koko. And while some of Koko’s reactions in the opening
